What's the one receipt you're never sure about? Mine was a laptop bag.
Business or personal? That's the question that haunts every sole trader at tax time.
Mine was a laptop bag. I bought it because I needed something to carry my work laptop to client meetings. But it's also a nice bag. I use it at weekends too. So... business expense or not?
Turns out — if it's primarily for business use, you can claim it. But "primarily" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence. A good accountant will help you navigate these grey areas — that's where their expertise really shines.
What's yours? The coffee you buy before a client meeting? The phone case? That second monitor you told yourself was for spreadsheets?
Drop your dodgy receipt below. No HMRC inspectors here — just fellow sole traders who've all been there. ☕
